Requirements for all ‘O’ licences

  • Applicant must satisfy requirements relating to:
    • Fitness
    • Maintenance
    • Operating centre
    • Legal undertakings
    • Finance
    • Relevant transport convictions during the previous 5 years.
  • Vehicles must:
    • Be maintained in a fit and serviceable condition.
    • Have an effective defect reporting and rectification system.
    • Have maintenance records kept for at least 15 months.
  • Operators must have suitable maintenance facilities or a contract with an outside repairer.
  • Operating centres must be suitable and capable of accommodating authorised vehicles.
  • Operators must comply with:
    • Drivers’ hours and records requirements.
    • Overloading rules.
    • Speed limits.
  • Operators must remain within the number of vehicles authorised at each operating centre.
