Standard licence — additional requirements

  • A standard licence requires:
    • Good repute
    • Financial standing
    • Professional competence
  • Relevant convictions must be declared.
  • Financial standing:
    • £8,000 for the first vehicle.
    • £4,500 for each subsequent vehicle.
  • These amounts apply to powered vehicles, not trailers.
  • Financial resources can be demonstrated through:
    • Bank/building society statements.
    • Certified accounts.
    • Certified opening balances.
    • Financial guarantees/overdraft facilities.
    • Qualifying invoice-financing arrangements.
  • A professionally competent transport manager is required.
  • The transport manager must have continuous and effective responsibility for transport operations.
  • Professional competence is normally demonstrated by passing the CPC examinations.
  • External transport managers:
    • Maximum 4 operators.
    • Maximum 50 vehicles in total.
