10. Quick Exam Numbers – Memorise These

  • 4½ hours driving → 45-minute break (or 15 + 30).
  • 9 hours daily driving → 10 hours twice per week maximum.
  • 56 hours driving per week.
  • 90 hours driving over 2 consecutive weeks.
  • 11 hours normal daily rest; 9 hours reduced rest when permitted.
  • 45 hours regular weekly rest; 24 hours minimum reduced rest.
  • 48-hour average Working Time week; 60-hour maximum in any one week.
  • Working Time includes driving, loading/unloading, maintenance/checking, training and qualifying waiting.
  • POA does not count as Working Time when its conditions are met.
  • Domestic rules: 10 hours driving + 11 hours duty.
  • Mixed driving: EU limits remain controlling for EU work; Domestic driving counts towards Domestic limits.
  • Police/DVSA can inspect records and prohibit continued driving.
  • Operators must schedule and monitor hours to avoid causing/permitting offences.
  • In exam schedules use 24-hour clock and check both EU drivers' hours and Working Time rules.
