5. AXLE WEIGHTS

5.1 IMPOSED AXLE WEIGHT

  • The total weight transmitted to the road by all wheels of an axle.

5.2 AXLE WEIGHT LIMITS

  • The permitted individual axle weight is shown in column 2 of the VTG6 and VTG7.

5.3 MAXIMUM PERMITTED AXLE WEIGHTS

  • Single non-driving axle: 10,000 kg.
  • Single axle which is the vehicle's sole driving axle: 11,500 kg.
  • Driving tandem axle: 19,000 kg.
  • Non-driving tandem axle/trailer tandem: 20,000 kg.
  • Triaxle: 24,000 kg in the stated conditions; the permitted gross weight depends on the distance between adjacent axles.
