← Lessons 20-Mechanical Conditions - Plating and Testing

1. INTRODUCTION

  • Plating and testing ensures goods vehicles subject to the regulations are not operated above their maximum axle weights or gross vehicle weights.
  • It also checks that mechanical condition conforms to standards laid down in the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (C & U Regulations).
  • These conditions apply not only at the Department for Transport test, but throughout the ensuing twelve months.
  • Plating and Testing is carried out on behalf of the DfT by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) at testing stations across the country.
