14. Foreign Drivers in the UK

  • Foreign goods vehicle drivers visiting the UK to deliver or collect goods may generally use their home-country licence.
  • Foreign drivers who become resident in Great Britain are subject to different requirements.
  • EEA vocational drivers becoming resident must register with DVLA within 12 months according to the training material.
  • After registration, the material states that the foreign goods vehicle licence can continue until age 45 or for 5 years, whichever is longer.
  • When renewal is required, the driver must apply for a UK version of the licence.
