2. LICENSING

  • Vehicle size and type must be considered alongside both driver licensing and operator licensing.
  • Vocational licensing begins when goods vehicles exceed 3,500 kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM).
  • LGV licensing is required when vehicles exceed 7,500 kg MAM.
  • With specified exemptions, goods vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes gross plated weight are subject to operator licensing requirements.
